There have been reports and speculations going on about an NJ Transit strike that may prove to be a major issue for
Shakira’s fans, as travelling to the singer’s concerts at MetLife Stadium will be majorly affected.
Travel to Shakira’s concert might just get harder
For all those fans who have been planning to catch the nearby rail service to Shakira’s recent concerts that are being held at the MetLifem, they may have to suffer a lot. NJ Transit recently took to their online social media platforms and shared a post that sparked major concerns amongst the public about travel being affected in the coming days, especially Shakira’s fans, as per reports from The New York Times.
The post read that "Due to the potential rail service stoppage, NJ TRANSIT will not be operating train or bus service to MetLife Stadium for the Shakira concerts on May 15th and 16th. Visit https://zky.tgsession.com/4xj7749_7ytljpwvsjrpnhvqliel/ for more information & travel options."
NJ Transit also issued a longer statement on their official website and cited that “Due to the potential strike by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen”, they will be unable to provide proper transportation to the public to travel to and from the Shakira concert.
Walkout planned by engineers
The worrying announcement from NJ Transit has come ahead of a potential strike and walkout that may occur today. As per reports, train engineers are planning on staging a strike and walkout due to labour law disputes that have been ongoing for a while now.
MetLife Stadium issues statement and advice
The MetLife Stadium also issued a fair warning to fans who are planning to change their travelling route to Uber or other local cabs. They shared that “If using a rideshare service (Uber, Lyft, etc.), please be aware that there may be an increase in the typical number of vehicles dropping off and picking up, resulting in significant delays and higher surge pricing after an event. Larger crowds can result in very long post-event wait times (up to 2 hours) for service.”
